It is not easy to set up a home cinema or home theater and
expect a superior experience. Sourcing the right equipment is just the starting
point to setting up your home cinema. There is more involved in the
audio-visual experience.
Visual
You have options by way of a large screen LCD TV with
blue-tooth and wi-fi connectivity and a smart projector. If you choose a
projector, the room needs to be large enough to accommodate the distance, and
you also need to have some means of dimming the lights. A large LCD TV may be a
better choice from the sharpness and brightness aspect.
Next, the visual experience is not just limited to TV
channel feeds. You can expect to connect a play station to the TV wireless or
use it to browse the internet when you are connected to your smartphone and it
transmits video feed to the TV. It should be just as easy to switch to a DVD or
Blu-ray player using the remote. Placement of the screen can be critical to
ensure perfect viewing angles. You can go a step further by the use of a
control unit located in the cinema room to control other TV sets in other
rooms.
Audio
Audio sounds simple but it is infinitely more complex and
challenging to implement to deliver true to life sound. From the source to the
final loudspeaker selection, quality of components play a key role. Room
acoustics are just as important as placement of the various sound drivers to
deliver a truly immersive surround sound experience. It takes a sound engineer
some effort to insulate walls, place speakers so that there are no standing
waves that create sonic booms and pick the right speakers for life-like sound.
The same set of speakers in the cinema room connected to a top of the line
powerful amplifier will usually handle inputs from other devices and need to be
of the highest quality yet not so large as to clash with the decor. Wireless or
wired? That is another question that is addressed by specialists.
Video must complement audio and the other way around for the
perfect experience. Setting up a home cinema that delivers the finest
audio-visual experience can be a challenge. If you are satisfied with nothing
less then it is best to call in an AV company to do it to perfection.
